Watching a piece come to life is the most precious part of the painting process. There is always a moment where I think-“have I ruined it? Is this ever going to look the way I want it to?”

Then I see it!! The progress-how far it’s come-how close it actually is. That moment motivates me to keep going-to finish. I try to keep that perspective in other areas of my life too. I try to remind myself that even if it doesn’t look the way I want it to now, it will. Painting has taught me patience.
